Dry needling is a form of therapy in which fine needles are inserted into myofascial trigger points (painful knots in muscles), tendons, ligaments, or near nerves in order to stimulate a healing response in painful musculoskeletal conditions.
Dry needling IS NOT acupuncture or Oriental Medicine; that is, it does not have the purpose of altering flow of energy (“Qi”- pronounced chee) along traditional Chinese Meridians for the treatment of diseases. In fact, dry needling is a modern, science-based intervention for the treatment of pain and dysfunction in musculoskeletal conditions such as neck pain, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, knee pain, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, and low back pain.
Did I mention our clients LOVE dry needling and it’s EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE?
Cupping is a form of Myofascial Decompression where plastic cups are used to create negative pressure over a particular body area, thereby drawing blood to that area. This intervention can be highly effective in conjunction with other treatment interventions to decrease stress, improve & promote healing, and improve muscular flexibility.
Scraping is a form of soft tissue mobilization in which stainless steel tools are used to massage/mobilize a particular muscle or tissue. Scraping can be highly effective to decrease stress, promote increased healing/quicker recovery, decrease muscular tightness and decrease scarring.
Osteopractic manipulation involves the hands-on manipulation of joints, whether in the spine or in the extremities, with the goal of improved joint mobility, decreased pain, injury prevention, diagnosis and restoration of proper biomechanics.
